Majnun
Majnun is a labour of love and work in progress that marks Soraya's debut into live-action narrative film. Her proof-of-concept film retells an ancient legend about love and betrayal through the medium of dance and calligraphic poetry with music by composer Nitin Sawhney.
Loosely based on Rudolf Gelpke’s translation of Nizami’s 12th-century poem, ‘Layla and Majnun’, Majnun brings together world class collaborators and employs the trope of seasons and nature to reflect the changes in Majnun’s life and in his love for Layla.
