Sound & Silence
Sound & Silence is an immersive and evolving exhibition that blends digital and physical elements to explore Arabic calligraphy and its connection to nature. Soraya delves into the geometry of Arabic letters and their link to the human form through film, ink-on-paper artworks, and sculptures. Her innovative use of white Carrara marble dust, traditionally reserved for sculpture, adds a unique dimension to her ink and sculptural works. Visitors are invited to interact with materials, creating calligraphic shapes using magnetite ink, and experience a dynamic installation that changes with light, projection, and natural soundscapes. Sound & Silence first premiered at The Coronet Theatre, Notting Hill as part of the Shubbak Festival, 2023.
